Healthy Pick recipes meet our requirements for saturated fat, sodium (salt), sugar, portion size, amount of vegetables as applicable.

The Food in a Minute team aims to provide a wide range of recipes that can form the basis of healthy, balanced eating. However, we understand that some people are looking at the nutritional value of their meals so we have developed an initiative called the Healthy Pick that will help highlight which of our tasty recipes are considered the healthiest - helping you make healthy food choices.

Healthy Pick recipes meet criteria for total fat, saturated fat, sodium (salt) and/or sugar. The criteria are listed below but you can also click the Healthy Pick icon on a recipe and it will display the criteria.

You can either simply look out for recipes with the Healthy Pick icon or you can search through the full collection of Healthy Pick Recipes.

Remember; the key to healthy living is to enjoy a wide variety of good wholesome foods, including the occasional treat. Enjoy plenty of regular exercise too.

Healthy Pick Criteria:


Healthy Pick Light Meals, Sides & Entrees

This recipe meets all of the following criteria:

  • Saturated Fat <3g/serve (<4g for bread based dishes)
  • Sodium <500mg/serve (<600mg/serve for bread based dishes)
  • Added Sugar (breakfast)* <10g/serve
  • Portion size of meat, fish, poultry <100g cooked lean red meat or skinless poultry
  • Vegetables (non-starchy) (bread based - >50% of the meal (volume))

Healthy Pick Main Meals

This recipe meets all of the following criteria:

  • Saturated Fat <5g/serve
  • Sodium <750mg/serve
  • Portion size of meat, fish, poultry Meat and Poultry <125g raw weight Fish <150g raw weight
  • Vegetables (non-starchy) >50% of the meal (volume)
  • Carbohydrate (total) <60g/serve

Healthy Pick Desserts & Baking

This recipe meets all of the following criteria:

  • Saturated Fat <2g/serve
  • Sodium <350mg/serve
  • Added Sugar* <10g/serve
  • Fruit (desserts) >50% of dish (volume)

* Added sugars include sugar (sucrose), golden syrup, treacle, honey, molasses, maple syrup, agave syrup, malt extract, corn syrup, rice bran syrup, invert syrup, fruit juice concentrates.
