Chasseur Lamb Shanks
Did you know Chasseur is French for hunter sauce? Instead of chicken we’ve used lamb shanks cooked slowly in the oven or crock pot – I can almost smell those lovely aromas mmm…..

- Serves 4-6
Ingredients
- 4-6 lamb shanks
- 1-2 stalks celery, sliced
- 150g mushrooms, halved
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme or 1 tsp dried thyme
- 535g can Wattie's Just Add Chicken Chasseur
- 2 tbsp Wattie's Tomato Paste
- 1/2 cup white wine or light red wine e.g. Rosé
- 500g pkt Wattie's Frozen Duchesse Potatoes
- 3 Tbsp finely grated Parmesan cheese

Method
1. Brown the lamb shanks in a dash of oil in a large, flame-proof casserole. Scatter over celery, mushrooms and thyme.
2. Pour in the Wattie’s Just Add Chicken Chasseur, tomato paste and wine and stir together.
3. Place in oven preheated to 160ºC for 2 1/2-3 hours or until lamb is tender. Remove from oven and set aside to rest.
4. Increase oven heat to 220ºC. Place Wattie’s Duchesse Potatoes on baking paper-lined tray and sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Bake for 10-14 minutes.
5. Serve shanks with Duchesse Potatoes and your favourite winter greens.
Crockpot / Slow Cooker Instructions:
Place the ingredients from Steps 1 & 2 into a slow cooker, cover
and cook on LOW for approx 8 hours (refer to your user manual).
Serve as above.

i did this recipe and the aroma when it was cooking was surperb and the shanks were very tender, did it for visitors and they enjoyed and took the recipe home and have try as well and love it.
