Devilled Sausages with Crispy Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 8 thick pork or beef sausages
  • 1 leek, trimmed, washed and sliced
  • 550g can Wattie's Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce
  • 2 tsp prepared mustard (Dijon is nice here)
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped thyme or parsley or use 2 tsp dried
  • 750g bag Wattie’s Recipe Mix Winter Veges
  • 1/2 French stick, sliced
  • a little garlic butter

Method

1. Heat a frying pan, brown sausages on both sides over a low heat, turning often, to prevent skins splitting. Cut each sausage into 4-5 pieces and set aside.

2. Gently pan fry the leek until tender, but not brown. Pour over Wattie’s Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce with 1/2 cup water, along with the mustard and thyme, or parsley and stir to combine.

3. Return cut sausages to sauce with Wattie’s Recipe Mix Winter veges, heat gently until the vegetables are just thawed, season if desired.

4. Carefully spoon the hot mixture into a lasagne style dish. Spread the French bread slices with garlic butter and layer on top of the devilled sausages.

5. Bake at 180°C for 20-25 minutes, or until hot and the topping is golden.

great easy meal, i ended up adding some tinned tomatos and a teaspoon of curry powder, this gave it a bit more flavour! yum!
