  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 small red onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup pumpkin, peeled and diced
  • 400 g can Wattie’s Savoury Tomatoes
  • grated zest 1 lemon
  • 6-8 black olives, drained
  • 300 g Tegel Tuscan Smoked Chicken Breast
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
  • pasta for 2

Savoury Tomatoes

Ripened on the vine under the Hawke’s Bay sun, Wattie’s Savoury Tomatoes are blended with onion, celery and capsicum to provide a great base for many Kiwi favourites.


1. Heat the oil in a deep nonstick frying pan, gently fry onion and pumpkin until tender but not brown.

2. Pour over a can Wattie’s Savoury Tomatoes, 1/4 cup water, lemon rind and black olives, simmer gently for 3-4 minutes. Slice or shred Tegel Tuscan Manuka Smoked Chicken Breast, stir into tomato sauce, heat gently. Season with pepper and thyme. Smother hot pasta with smoked chicken and tomato sauce. Serve with a crisp green salad.
