  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 100 g Wattie's Tomato Paste
  • 2 x 400 g cans Wattie's Crushed and Sieved Tomatoes
  • 1 ½ cups liquid vegetable or chicken stock, or water
  • 425 g can Craig’s Red Kidney Beans, drained & rinsed
  • 2 Tbsp freshly chopped oregano or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 Tbsp sugar

Crushed and Sieved Tomatoes

Red Kidney Beans

Red kidney beans are a convenient way to make your meat dishes go further. Add them to mince recipes, soups, stews and casseroles to make the meal go further, whilst also bumping up the protein and dietary fibre. 


1. Heat butter in a large saucepan and sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add tomato paste to the saucepan and continue cooking while stirring for 1-2 minutes. Then add the Wattie’s Crushed Sieved Tomatoes and stock, bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

2. Add the Craig’s Red Kidney Beans, oregano and sugar, simmer for a further 5 minutes, then season with salt and pepper and serve with crusty bread.
