Pacific Sausages

What a difference a can of pineapple and a jar of Wattie's Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce makes to good old bangers and mash!

Pacific Sausages

Ingredients

  • 6-8 thick pork sausages
  • 2 carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 green capsicum, deseeded or 2 stalks celery, roughly chopped
  • 1 green pepper, cored and deseeded or 2 stalks celery, roughly chopped
  • 1 onions, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 550g Wattie's Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce
  • 227g can pineapple slices in juice, halved
Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce

Method

1. Brown the sausages in a non-stick lidded frying pan until they are well browned on both sides.

2. Add the carrots, green capsicum or celery, onion, Wattie’s Just Add Devilled Sausages Simmer Sauce and pineapple slices with juice. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.

3. Serve with mashed potatoes.

This is a great meal. I changed the pineapple (none in the cupboard at the time) to a can of sliced apricots, just cut the apricots into quarters and use about half the juice. I would suggest/recommend that you precook the carrots until they are just past the "bone" stage and then proceed as normal and cut the sausages into either half and quarters.

made tonight for tea,I was really impressed hubby loved he even had seconds. I used the Green pepper instead of celery. Hubby asked me to make them again. Had left overs so ive made nup some frozen meals.
