• 500 g lean beef mince
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1-2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 400 g can Wattie's Moroccan Style Tomatoes
  • 420 g can Wattie's Chilli Beans Mild
  • 1 Tbsp freshly chopped thyme

  • Crispy Crumb Topping
  • 2 cups fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp finely grated lemon zest
  • 2 Tbsp oil or melted butter

1. Quickly brown the beef mince in a dash of oil in a hot frying pan, breaking up the mince with the back of a spoon as it browns. (This may be best done in 2 batches). Set aside.

2. Gently pan fry the onion and celery in the remaining oil, until tender.

3. Pour over the Wattie’s Moroccan Style Tomatoes and Wattie’s Chilli Beans Mild. Return the mince to the pan with the thyme and heat gently, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper if wished. Simmer gently for 6-8 minutes.

4. Toss together the breadcrumbs, melted butter or oil, thyme, garlic and lemon rind. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Spoon hot mince and bean mixture into an oven proof serving dish, scatter overcrumb topping.

6. Bake at 180°C for 15-20 minutes. Serve.
