Maple Ham Steaks with Orange & Ginger Scented Vegetables

Maple syrup is a winner with bacon so why not try this scrummy maple glaze, great on these ham steaks or use with any pork cooked on the BBQ or under the grill. Team it with these vegetables and this recipe makes a quick and tasty meal.

Maple Ham Steaks with Orange & Ginger Scented Vegetables

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Cottee's Maple Flavoured Syrup
  • 1 tsp each minced ginger and garlic
  • 2 oranges, grated zest and juice
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 4-6 ham steaks
  • 2 x 350g packs Wattie's SteamFresh Vegetables
  • 1 tsp minced ginger

Method

1. To make the glaze; In a small bowl stir together Cottee’s Maple Flavoured Syrup , ginger, garlic, 1 tsp of orange zest, 2 Tbsp of juice and soy sauce and mix well.

2. Brush one side of the ham steaks with glaze and place on BBQ or on a foil-lined grill tray. Cook 4 minutes, turn and brush with remaining glaze and cook for a further 3-4 minutes or until hot and golden.

3. Place Wattie’s SteamFresh Vegetable bag front side down on a plate. Do not pierce or open the bag. Microwave on HIGH for 4 1/2 minutes. Remove the bag from microwave and stand for 1 minute. Repeat for other bag. Carefully cut open the bags with scissors, drain any liquid and place vegetables into a warmed serving dish.

4. While vegetables are standing microwave the ginger and remaining orange rind and juice for 30 seconds, pour over the hot vegetables, toss to serve with grilled maple ham steaks and new potatoes.
