  • 500 g lean beef mince
  • 2 onions, peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp ground cumin (optional)
  • 420 g can Wattie's Chilli Beans Hot
  • ¼ cup Wattie's Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock or water

1. Heat the oil in a lidded frying pan and brown the minced beef, breaking it up with a fork as you go. This may be best done in two batches. Set aside.

2. Add the onions, garlic and cumin to the pan and cook 2-3 minutes until just beginning to soften.

3. Return the meat to the pan with the Wattie's Chilli Beans, Wattie's Tomato Sauce or Paste and beef stock or water.

3. Cover and simmer 15 minutes until the beef is tender.

Serve with rice and a fresh green salad.

Crockpot/Slow Cooker Instructions:

For best results, follow steps 1 and 2 and place in slow cooker with chilli beans, tomato paste, and 1/4 cup water or stock. Cook on LOW for approx 8 hours (refer to your user manual). Alternatively, place ingredients without browning and 1/4 cup water or stock in slow cooker and cook as above.

This one's good. You can cook it anywhere - in a camp oven on the boat, in the shack in the bush... and it's warming in winter, easy in summer with the salad.

Easy to make, good value for money, add a bit of hot sauce with extra chillies to really spice it up and top it off with gaucomole and sour cream. Alternatively have it with nachos for a change - yummy!

Awesome. Cheap to make and fantastic in the crock pot. I add an extra can of beans with the hopes there will be leftovers for lunch.
