Cheat’s Souffle

Ingredients

  • 10 slices white bread
  • 25g butter (approx.)
  • 4 rashers bacon, diced and cooked until crisp
  • 4 eggs
  • 410g can Wattie's Cream Style Corn
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
cream style corn

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180° fan bake or 200°C conventional. Butter the bread slices and sandwich together to make 5 sandwiches. Trim the crusts from each and cut into quarters.

2. Arrange the bread randomly in a 2 litre oven-proof dish. Sprinkle over the bacon.

3. In a large bowl or jug blend together the eggs, Wattie's Cream Style Corn and milk. Pour over the bread evenly and then sprinkle over the cheese.

Fan bake for 30 minutes. Serve hot.

Fantastic recipe that is so easy to make also ingredients are items that are readily available items at a small cost. Great for the family that are on a budget.

Thought it looked really nice when it came out of the oven, however the bread went a bit soggy and didn't taste very nice. Was a little bit disappointed as I thought it would be a lot nicer. Still, it is a good one for cost and for kids.

I used Freyas soy & linseed bread, a little extra bacon & cheese and this was yummy. Now a favourite!
